Garden Birthday Party

I love the outdoors and always admire the natural beauty of flowers and trees. When I saw this tree blooming, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for a garden themed party.

The freshly cut flowers from my garden accented the table perfectly, and the tree created a beautiful “confetti” across the grass with the newly fallen petals.

The setting was captured by the very talented Jennifer, from Priceless Studios Photography. She did an amazing job photographing the table and all the small details throughout.

Pink Green and White Candy

Being in a garden setting, I wanted the table to be surrounded by butterflies. Real butterflies, of course, can’t be guaranteed, so I went with the next best thing. ;) I placed die-cuts from Elite Paperie in fun places to make it appear as if butterflies actually landed on the table.

Butterfly Party

Cupcakes were used for this small party, but I still wanted to create a way to have the appearance of a large cake. I came up with this unique tiered pedestal, and then wrapped it in ribbon and surrounded it with more freshly cut flowers.

I was also set on the idea of having lollipop flowers because I think they’re amazingly cute. I painted some small terracotta pots with pink and white paint to match the table. I filled the pots with some white sixlets, and put the lollipops in the center with some green ribbon to represent the flower’s leaves. This lollipop display turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the table!

Pink Lollipop Flowers

One of my other favorite things on the table were the Rice Krispie treats. I made a regular pan of Rice Krispie treats (I used Marshmallow Fluff), and then cut them out using these flower and butterfly cookie cutters. I melted some white chocolate chips in my microwave {at 50%  power so they wouldn’t burn!} and used that to stick some pink and green jelly beans to the Rice Krispie Treats. Placed inside clear cello treat bags with a topper on them, they’re the perfect treats to take home at the end of party!

Along with candy and other treats, lemonade was poured using these adorable plastic bottles and green striped straws from Tom Kat Studio. I also dressed up the drinks with some brown twine and straw flags.

Inspiring Color Combinations: Peony, Seafoam, Mint, Apricot, Banana

Color Combination - Pink, Blue, Mint, Orange Yellow - Vibrant Spring Summer Colors

A fun color combination perfect for spring and summer events. I love the mix of the warm, vibrant colors of peony, apricot, and banana mixed with the softer, cooler colors of seafoam and mint.

This combination is a more updated and modern “rainbow” in pink, blue, green, orange, and yellow.

Inspiring Color Combinations: Seafoam, Iced Mint, Baby Blue

Color Combination - Seafoam Mint Baby Blue

I am in LOVE with this color combination of seafoam, iced mint, and baby blue from my color chart.

These are such soft, soothing colors and they’d work well for any event, or even in decorating your home. I can see them working beautifully in a bedroom or a baby’s nursery.

Printable Cupcake Topper Assembly Tutorial

Many of my customers have asked for advice on how to print and assemble their printable products, and while I always provide instructions upon purchase, I’ve decided to take things a step further. I will now be starting a series { including videos } on how to assemble your printables!

Many of you may watch these videos and think to yourself, “that looks easy…” and that’s the point! I wanted to make these videos to show those who may be afraid of printables how easy it really is. I also want to share my tips and techniques, as well as materials I’ve found to work the best.

UP FIRST: PRINTABLE CUPCAKE TOPPERS

Printable Cupcake Topper

I love cupcake toppers. They are such an easy way to dress up a cupcake, without being a master of frosting { as you can see from my video and photos I am not a master of frosting… }.

Materials I recommend:

You can view the tutorial here:

And here are some written instructions { for those who prefer to read rather than watch }:

  1. Print your file on card stock paper
  2. Cut out each row of squares so you can get to them with the punch
  3. Center the design in the 2″ circle punch and press down to punch out each circle
  4. Using your glue lines, tear one line (on the plastic backing) off the roll
  5. Line the glue up with the top of your lollipop stick and press down on the plastic backing
  6. Peel off the plastic backing, and the glue line should remain stuck to your lollipop stick
  7. Center your topper over the lollipop stick – the end of the glue line should line up with the bottom of the circle
  8. Press down gently so you don’t bend the paper { there’s a good example of this in the video… left in for education purposes ;) }
  9. Stick in the center of your cupcake!

This is my first ever tutorial, so please feel free to leave me some feedback and let me know what you think, or would like to see in the future!
